Here Comes the Sun- House Concert Tour
I think “live” music is pretty special. I also believe whenever families have the opportunity to experience “live” music together amazing things can happen. We become connected in so many ways and on so many levels experiencing life in the moment. I've been working with this idea to create more opportunities for families to experience "live" music together by booking Family House Concerts.
I’ve set aside the month of April for booking Family House Concerts calling it the “Here Comes the Sun -House Concert Tour”. The idea is to book about 15 House Concerts in Ohio and Western PA during the month of April celebrating the coming of Spring. I have had a dozen or so inquiries so far and booked a few dates but there are still dates available. If you think you might be interested in hosting a House Concert as part of the Here Comes the Sun Tour drop me an e-mail or call my office 330.482.1008 ASAP and we can get you the details. If you're interested in attending one of these House concerts you'll need to contact the individual host to see if there is still room...space is usually limited. Check the schedule page for concerts in your area.
If you're not familiar with house concerts here's a good description from Wikipedia...
The definition of house concert is not definite but is generally taken as a concert that's presented in someone's home, or a nearby private space, for example a barn or back yard.
Usually, but not always, the audience capacity is smaller than at a coffeehouse or club.
The money collected usually (but not always) goes straight to the performers, with no "profit motive" on the presenter's part.
Often, but not always, house concerts are conducted "by invitation" (for practical reasons), rather than as "public" concerts like a club or concert hall.
Often - again with exceptions - there is little or no "sound system" - performers play and sing acoustically, unless someone needs a little amp for their keyboard.
Refreshments, if any, are usually either a "pot luck" brought by the listeners, or provided by the hosts using a bit of the gate receipts.
Sometimes - but definitely not always - the performers get a meal and/or lodging with the presenters as part of their compensation.
"A
house concert is a chance to experience music in a warm and
intimate environment. It's when someone opens up their home
and invites you into their living room to share in a performance
by one of their favorite musicians. It's a chance to meet the
performers and get them to sign their CD. A house concert is
also a great social evening of friends and neighbors."
- Russ and Julie's House Concerts
House
concerts are a wonderful grass roots phenomenon where touring musicians
and developing local talent alike perform in the comfortable intimacy
of private homes and similar non traditional spaces. They are fun to
attend, fun to present and fun to play.
If
you would like to help promote "live" music for kids
and families by sponsoring a house concert let me know. People all over
the country have been presenting house concert with great success.
